The Army Vision is about leadership; it is their stock in trade, and it is what makes them successful. They receive soldiers who enter the force and mature them into leaders for the next generation of soldiers. The army will continue to develop those leaders through study in the institutional schoolhouse, distance learning, through field experiences gained in operational assignments, and through personal study and professional readings.
Whether they like it or not, global universities are operating in a worldwide
marketplace. As a recent report on "borderless education" for the vice-chancellors
and the funding councils pointed out, an emerging corporate university in
the US is experiencing escalating growth in online distance learning. Private
educators and state-funded institutions across the world are being challenged
with aggressive competition because of the call for online business education.
With enrollments up and student demand for distance learning on the rise, traditional higher learning institutions are taking a second look at the advantages of online education.
